Salt Lake 2016 Summer Fun

We live in a great place full of adventure and fun. Summer is no exception. There are so many activities hosted by our Salt Lake County cities that it's always easy to find something to do when the kiddos get bored. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Millcreek Venture Out

On Friday nights June 3 - August 26 from 6-9 there is live music, outdoor recreation activities, food, art and a community market. At dusk there will be a movie shown on the big screen. Each weekly Venture Out is at a new location with a different theme and movie. Check out their website below for the schedule.

New this year is the participation of the Food Truck League and Venture Quest! The Food Truck League will be bringing their most popular food trucks to each Venture Out! And Venture Quest! will be hosting competitions between families beginning in July. Families will be given weekly challenges to compete and will come together on Friday evenings for points and prizes.

2. Salt Lake City Capitol Movies Under the Stars

This year kicks off the 7th Annual Movies Under the Stars put on by the Capitol Preservation Board. These are free events also on Friday nights in July & August on the lawn on the State Capitol Building on north end of State St. They have bands that play before the movie starts at dust. This is a bit lower key than Millcreek's weekly festival, but still a lot of fun. Check out the link below for the movies and schedule.

3. Twilight Concert Series

Also in July and August in Downtown Salt Lake City is the Twilight Concert Series on Thursday nights. This is more for the adult crowd. The concerts are located at Pioneer Park and tickets start as low as $5. For this year's lineup and to purchase tickets check out the link below.

4. Draper City Concerts and Movies

You don't have to schlep downtown for all the fun. Draper city hosts a summer concert series in June and movies at their ampitheater too. I've got their link here as well.

5. South Jordan Summer Fest

South Jordan also gets in on the action with their Summer Fest June 1-4th. There is a parade, carnival, car show, concerts, live entertainment, equestrian events, & more.

These all are just a smattering of all the activities going on this summer in Salt Lake County. I know I've left out so many. Just another reason I love this place I call home.
