Last weekend I had the pleasure of having Afternoon Tea at the Grand America with the ladies of my family. We had such a good time that I had to share it with you.

The room where tea is held is small and intimate with oversized comfy chairs and sofas. It makes you feel instantly relaxed. They had live music as well - this time is was a harpist. Once seated they start you off with a light dish of strawberries with creme chantilly. So, so good! Light and refreshing.

After that you pick out your choice of tea - caffeinated or not. Or if tea isn't your thing they have some delicious hot chocolates as well. I chose the Big Hibiscus that was pinker than pink and tasted like drinking candy - almost. I think the sugar cube I added helped a little. Each person gets their choice of drink and their very own teapot.

The next course is an array of finger sandwiches - we had cucumber, chicken salad, smoked trout, mushroom and prosciutto crudo, and almond, apricot, pepper jack.  Also cranberry scones with fresh raspberry jam, clotted cream, and lemon curd.

And then the desserts - oh the desserts. So good. White chocolate tarts, lemon bars, banana cream puffs, madeleines, cookies, handmade gum drops, chocolate mousse and fresh macaroons.

It was such a delicious, relaxing, fun afternoon. And not just for ladies. At $28 per person it makes a great treat on a special occasion or when you are just in need of a treat. I think next time I'll need to couple my tea with a spa visit too - the ultimate day of pampering.
