64 Years Young & Still Pretty in Pink
/My office has a new listing in the coveted Saint Marys neighborhood of Salt Lake City. It is a beautiful Mid-Century Modern lady that shows off so much of her original glory. This is a neighborhood known for owners and investors tearing down these old homes or completely gutting and renovating them. Knowing that I ran over to see her before she can be changed. (And I’m really hoping someone respects and saves what they can of this home.)
The house was built of pink bricks in 1958 and her owners over the years have embraced that brick and even extended it into the house too! There are pink drapes and wallpaper, a pink marble fireplace and a pink built-in screen separating the dining room from the living room. That screen gives me life!
Seriously between that screen and that fireplace I am exhausted. I love them so much!
The other two fire places in the house are perfect Mid-Century examples too. One is in a massive office with wall-to-wall shelving and the other is in the big family room downstairs that opens up into the backyard.
Speaking of built-ins, this house does not disappoint. There is a built-in china hutch in the dining room (ignore the unprofessional photographer in that mirror), a cool built-in desk in one of the bedrooms, and dressers in every closet to name a few.
The bathrooms in this house are original and in such good condition. I know they are going to change so let’s take a moment to appreciate the tile that you cannot replicate, and the character of the shape of the counter in the main floor bathroom. That yellow tile in the basement bathroom isn’t my favorite, but I can appreciate it still.
Finally, here are a few odds and ends that I just super appreciated in this house. The radio is on the wall of the kitchen and IT WORKS! The front door is art and that playhouse would be amazing with a coat of paint.
