May 2019 Events In Salt Lake City

It’s time to round up a few fun events here in Salt Lake City in the month of May!

1. Matilda

Hale Center Theatre in Sandy is presenting the Tony award winning musical Matilda based on the Roald Dahl book by the same name. It runs from April 22 - June 15th. My son and I are currently reading this book. It would be so fun to go see it come to life!

2. Silent Dancer

For something a bit more adult, you can head over to Salt Lake Acting company and see the world premiere of Silent Dancer by Kathleen Cahill. It’s described at “Dangerous love, secret identities, maids, dancers, criminals, silent movies, and the most famous couple in New York – Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald. A groundbreaking dance/play/romance which expresses the pulse, the change, and the infinite possibilities of life in America.” It runs from April 10 - May 12th. Get more info below.

3. Disney’s Aladdin

Broadway at the Eccles is running Disney’s Aladdin musical from April 25 - May 12. I love this beautiful theater and it’s shows never disappoint.

4. OBT’s A Lad ‘n’ His Magic Lamp

The nonprofit Off Broadway Theatre is running A Lad ‘n’ His Magic Lamp, a spoof on the original, at the same time as the one at the Eccles. It runs a bit longer - from April 26 - June 1. Eric Jensen at the OBT runs great, fun plays. This one is sure to be lots of fun.

5. SLC Bees Baseball

Let’s end with something non-theater related. The Salt Lake City Bees have started their season. There are games all throughout the month of May and beyond. Check below for dates, times and tickets!
