5 Fall Activites In Salt Lake City
I love fall. It's my favorite time of year. I love the bite in the air in the mornings and the changes of colors all around me. I love enjoying all the garden produce that I've work hard on all summer too. Salt Lake City and the surrounding areas provide a myriad of fall activities. I'm going to discuss five below. Tell me what your favorite fall activities are in the comments.
1. Canyon Drives
Those of us lucky enough to live in Salt Lake City know how close we are to our wonderful mountains and their scenery. This time of year I love a trip of any of our canyons - Emigration, Parleys, Millcreek, Big Cottonwood, and Little Cottonwood. None of them disappoint in the "fall foliage" department. A couple weeks ago my family and I drove the Alpine Loop between Provo & American Fork Canyons. That's a beautiful drive with lots of places to pull over, park and enjoy the amazing vistas and changing leaves. My nearly four-year-old loved searching for pink leaves as he hiked on each of our stops. You can even hike, picnic and go to the bathroom if needed. If you drive it straight through it'll take you about 45-minutes.
2. Cornbelly's Corn Maze and Pumpkin Fest
Cornbelly's is located at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi and it is So. Much. Fun. We went last year with our then two-year-old and his fourteen-year-old cousin. They both had fun. We bought the cheapest $12 tickets and they included nearly everything - corn maze, hayrides, Jumper Air Pillow, Cow Train, Kiddie Coral, Pedal Karts, Pig Races, Duck Races, Chicken Show, Cornbelly Mountain, Pumpkin Princess Playland, Scary Tales & S'mores, Giant Slide, Animal Band and so much more. They have more expensive tickets that include their Insanity Point Haunted Attractions and also Unlimited Season Passes for $50. They also have periodic events happening throughout the month - fireworks, the candy canon, Doggy Howl-o-ween, Pumpkin Smash & Air Mutts to name a few. It truly is fun for the whole family. If you purchase tickets online before the end of the month you can save $2 on your tickets too.
3. Wheeler Historic Farm Pumpkin Days & Haybale Maze
Back in the Salt Lake Valley, head over to Wheeler Farm for more fall fun. For $9 you get access to their Pumpkin Days & Haybale Maze. They have two mazes made out of hay bales. One for little little kids and one for everyone else. They aren't as elaborate as Cornbelly's, but still are fun. You can also enjoy a wagon ride through the grounds and choose a pumpkin to take home. All the other typical daily farm activities are up and running too. They have discounts on Tuesday nights.
4. Haunted Houses
Salt Lake City and the surrounding area is home to many haunted attractions. The Travel Channel recently ranked Fear Factory in Downtown Salt Lake as one of the top ten haunted attractions in the country. Nightmare on 13th has also been nationally ranked in the past. Lagoon Fun Park also transforms for the season with Frightmares coupled with its normal admission prices.
5. Red Butte Garden After Dark
Red Butte Garden is always a beautiful and educational place to meander through There is always something extra to do too - concerts and art shows and classes to name a few. At the end of October they offer Garden After Dark. This year the theme is "Legends of Camelot." According to their website (link below), the garden will be transformed into a "realm of myth and magic as you visit the land of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. Discover more about nature's hidden ties to the people and places of Camelot." There are activities, crafts light displays and a dance theater performance each night. It's a kid and costume-friendly experience.
Those are just a few of the many, many things Salt Lake City has to offer in the fall? What is your favorite fall activity?
